If I Stay, Gayle Forman : ★★★★★
Choices. Seventeen-year-old Mia is faced with some tough ones: Stay true to her first love—music—even if it means losing her boyfriend and leaving her family and friends behind? Then one February morning Mia goes for a drive with her family, and in an instant, everything changes. Suddenly, all the choices are gone, except one. And it’s the only one that matters. If I Stay is a heartachingly beautiful book about the power of love, the true meaning of family, and the choices we all make. (source: Goodreads)
“ If I stay. If I live. It's up to me. ” - Mia
I already saw this on the bookstores because its beautiful cover caught my attention. That time, I was busy reading the Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy so I decided not to buy but until I saw good reviews about it. And just last Friday, I started reading and done reading it yesterday. It was heartbreaking to tell you honestly. It made me cry. I think everyone will cry if it talks about between life and death. Mia has an ordinary life. Mia with her mom, dad and younger brother Teddy went out to go to the city on snow day and their car crashed and it immediately killed her parents & teddy. But Mia is the only one survived but in critical & grave condition. And the journey of Mia’s spirit started. Mia looked back and reminisce her fond relationship with her rock star boyfriend Adam. Despite of their music genre differences they click and fell in love to each other. Mia need to decide if she stays or if she let go. Its all up to her. Towards the end, all the realization of Mia and Adam’s words to Mia is really made me into tears. I keep holding back but I can’t. It was profoundly moving and captivating. I totally recommend this book. I just started reading its continuation, Where She Went.
